His last run may have been a confidence booster ( he looked a bit reluctant at the start & was maybe remembering is fall) but he was sent off fav so there must have been some confidence behind him. Personally though, I think at the prices Petit Robin is a safer bet but I have been wrong before Well Chief would be interesting if starting but I would want 25's at least for a horse that hasn't run for over 700 days in a Grade 1 race of this magnitude! | ||||

| Selling Plater Join Date: Jan 2009 | Luckily I had a great Cheltenham last year and immediately backed Master Minded at 6/4 for the renewal (unfortunately not with Paddy Power). With long term bets like that doubt sometimes creep in and I was worried that Tidal Bay might be a danger with MM having only beaten VPU who I don't rate very highly. However when I saw him win his last race my mind took me back to 42 years ago. Combine that race with the way he won the QMCC and you have the best racehorse since Arkle himself. Looking back at the QMCC the similarities in the two horses is remarkable. Not so much in appearance but the way they come of the bend and come up the hill like it was a downhill ski slope. Master Minded looked more like a greyhound coming round the bend than he did a racehorse. Something Peter O'Sullivan once said about Arkle. Another striking similarity was seen in has last race. If you get the chance to watch it again you will notice a couple of leaps he makes when he takes 2 lengths out of the opposition in the air, something again Arkle was famous for. I've backed Big Zeb without MM but I don't care what happens there to be honest. All I want to do is sit back and watch Master Minded come of that bend and sprint up the hill again. Never thought I would see a horse to compare to Arkle but if this horse stays sound he'll win the next 4 QMCC and become a legend like him. Magnificent horse!!! |

There are 5 that are in single figures w-t-f - BIG ZEB , PETIT ROBIN , TIDAL BAY , WELL CHIEF and BRIAREUS From those 5 only TIDAL BAY and WELL CHIEF have placed at a previous Festival and also those 2 are the only one's that are rated above 160 . WELL CHIEF - At the Festival - 2 ,1 , 2 , f . Rated 162 . Although it will be making it's seasonal debut it has won First-time-out 3 out of the past 4 seaonal debuts. TIDAL BAY - At the Festival - 2 , 1 . Rated 165 . Won last season's ARKLE which has found the CC winner no less than 6 times from the past 16 runnings . It's between these 2 imo with WELL CHIEF @ 5/1 and TIDAL BAY @ 4/1 without MASTER MINDED. |

If Master Minded is the greatest chaser of recent times, then call me Dick Turpin. What a performance from Well Chief, if only Murphy had been more serious with him. |
