Only asking as I was talking about this with my girlfriend who is a web designer / developer who has a decent knowlegd about databases and I wanted to show her what I/we were looking at as she may be able to sort something out for us. However if you wish to show an example perhaps something along the line of patternform would be similar. PatternForm for UK Horse Racing you could have the last 3 ratings or 3 different type of ratings that are sortable. With the choice of selecting number of runs, or length of time etc. The difficult part will be the updating of form and cards as you will have to find a reliable source. Good luck Davey H |

| Group 1 Level | Aye, sorry about this one guys. The software I put together was pretty functional, but the amount of work needed to provide data updates and make it so that non-techies could use it was restrictive. Was getting to the point that I'd fix one problem and another one would rear its head - and that would go on and on until I'd gone crazy. :/ Sticking to simpler things, at the moment. I may revisit this one day, though. ![]() |

| Selling Plater Join Date: Jan 2012 Location: North East | I've just been catching up with this post. I work out my Speed Handicap Ratings on a spreadsheet, then input the results to a Word Processor document. I tried using a database program but found it easier to use a word processor. The idea of having a program that can do all of this for you is great but maybe a bit ambitious because everyone calculates his/her own going correction for a start and this affects the ratings. This seems to me to be the most important factor apart from reliable standard times, and everyone has their own standards. I can open my word processor and type in the first few letters of the name of a horse and it will jump to the horses name listing all of it's speed figures. I only list Date, Course, Going, dist and rating. Maybe I should list Weight carried but this is taken care of in my ratings so I don't bother. If you're looking for a way to list your ratings - try a word processor. |

| Selling Plater Join Date: Jan 2012 Location: North East | Hi Jon Sorry, I won’t be posting my ratings. Apart from anything else they consist of the equivalent of over 450 A4 pages at the moment and took a lot of work ( and change on a race by race basis ). I just thought that after the program idea from Retroneous fell through I’d suggest a word processor to keep a record rather than a database. I have to type in the winners details ( date, course, going, dist ) but for the rest of the runners I only have to Copy /Paste and then add the rating. Pity the program didn’t work out – it sounded good. |
