Ross Kemp in Afghanistan - OHR

I found myself wide awake last night and bored, and found myself stumbling upon this programme last night whilst 'channel surfing'.

There was 5 different programs on, one after the other and around an hour in length each programme. I found myself watching all of them, one after the other and found it fascinating.

I do like war programme and stuff like this, and fair play to Ross Kemp for going out there and trying to show the world what our troops are going through on a day to day basis. The way the media and our country portray our troops is disgusting, and the government and people on the whole should show more appreciation to those men that go out there and fight for our country.

Each and everyone of those guys out there in Afghanistan, and in any other future war are heroes. I know it's something I don't have the bottle to do.

I been watching it from the start and i will say the same ALL HEROES not something i would do. You have to say Ross Kemp is a mad head but like you said fair play to him its opened my eyes to what is happing and the troops and doing for us all HEROES all of them.

The programme was amazing. A real good insight. In fact it made me want to be out there with him and today I popped down to my local TA office and signed up!

Who knows, in 6 months time I could be out there getting a tan!

So, slightly off topic again... I have got my medical down at my local army barracks on saturday morning!! Been the disorganised person I am, I have no idea what to expect i.e the fitness tests and all that!! :S

Stocksy.Only an opinion but I would really not be going down that path.Anyone who has to be told what to do without question seriously needs to think about what that means.Also always try to remember who the idiots are, who are telling you where to point and shoot.

As much as Im going for the fighting and killing bit, Im particularly going for the comradeship and free qualifications!!

Too be fair I try not to read too much in depth about the politics regarding War but its a job and in this day of financial meltdown an extra income!!

Two of my mates are in Afghan at the moment. Can't be bothered with them at all now though, they went away decent guys and came back as big headed arseholes who think they are gods gift.

Well 6 months down the line... I will be attending my first weekend of training tonight!! Absolutely bricking it, have no idea what to expect! My kit looks shocking, I look scruffy, I could be seriously beasted!!

Went ok. Pissed the fitness work as usual as i am pretty fit. Only got bollocked for the state of my beret... a comparison to Frank Spencer was mentioned!! Other uniform hasn't been commented on yet but when I do my 2 week course next year it will be brought up!! Got to piss about with the SA80 again which was a good laugh.

Just keep this up to date. On friday I am off to Pirbright for a 2 week course. Loads of live firing, battle casualty drills, admin, camping out and PT. Is training by the regs so I am absolutely bricking it. I am sure they will 'take away the boy and bring back the man' so to speak!!

I watched Vinnie Jones Toughest Cops not so long ago, but that sounds like a poor mans versin of this

. He certainly has some balls to go out there. I'll see if I can find the series online.

MAde it back in one piece. Was a quality 2 weeks, learnt a lot. On a different note, pulled into Newport Pagnall services in full army kit for a piss break and received a round of applause from the English Defence League. Got congratulated on doing a grand job!! They were on the way back from a protest in London.
