Paddy Power - Customer 'Service'

Gotta love it.

Signed up for a new account with Paddy Power. Deposited £25 to take advantage of their free bet malarkey, stuck a couple of football bets on and emailed them to ask for my free bet (as was requested.)

As I went about it, I also asked if I could be self-excluded from their Casino, Games and other non-sportsbook related stuff - simply because I don't want to use it, I don't want to be trying to convince myself that I can beat online blackjack, and I don't want them bombarding me with "free casino bet" emails every five minutes as every other bookie does as soon as you sign up.

This morning, I go to see if they've priced up Friday's football, and I can't log in.

Loaded up the live chat help box and was told that my account had been closed, my free bet would not be credited, and my balance would be refunded within three working days. This is due to their "Responsible Gambling" policy - which, because I had used the words "self-exclusion" in my email - had caused them to close my account. The guy actually referred me to Gamcare in the chat, as I was online at 6am trying to get my account reopened. Wouldn't listen to the fact that I was checking the prices before work and that I'm off there now for an early start.

As for my football bets, my winnings will be paid onto my debit card if they are successful. The account can't be reopened under any circumstances, and they told me in no uncertain terms that I was not welcome to use any of their products, and any persons trying to register an account from my address will be prevented from doing so.

Bit harsh, I thought. Especially when I was only asking if it COULD be done, not if they would actually do it. Frankly, that and the fact that they log you out every 20 minutes whether you want to be or not and whether you're using the site or not, means that I won't be recommending them to anyone.

Had to vent. I'm quite angry at the fookers.

PP are quite pathetic and have to agree about the "customer service".....it;s non exsistent...

I would recommend Sportingbet to anyone, especially if you want the footie bets...

Have to say I use them regular and any problems I've had with anything they have been very quick to resolve.Having said that nearly all betting shops and my betting accounts treat me like royalty. My local shop changed hands a guy I'd bet with on the strap for years sold up to a new fellow. On entry it was normal for me to get a cuppa as I walked in. After 2 or 3 weeks of nipping in there the new guy was ordering sandwiches from the local cafe and asked me if I wanted anything I said 'arr gu on I'll have a BEST'.It arrived I tried to give the guy the money and he naa your alright mate on the house. The following week I walked in there and there was another BEST waiting for me.Which all sounds very good but when bookies start to get that friendly its time to look at your gambling habits

Perhaps Ken take it as a good sign that they don't seem to want your custom

He certainly does - an interesting read!

As far as my case goes, Paddy's are now offering to re-open my account, but have informed me that if I feel that I've spent "a bit much on games that I don't find beneficial" that I can set a deposit limit.

I'd love to know when I said that I'd spent...well...ANYTHING on their games, but there you go. I'll be grabbing my footy winnings (hopefully) and closing the account myself this evening.

Ok, a new twist.

They reopened my account. Logged in...£46.00 in there! Looked in the history, turns out I'd had £4 on Clijsters to win the women's US Open - about three weeks before I'd signed up with them. Emailed them to tell them of the error - best be honest - they thanked me for letting them know, resettled the account to £0.00 and then credited me £46.00 as a loyalty bonus. Isn't a free bet, and I can withdraw it - their way of saying thank you for my honesty and to apologise for the account mixup, says the woman on live chat.

Now THAT is a bit better, isn't it? I might stay with them now for a bit.

I've just had a remarkably similar confrontation with them. So much so I've actually been able to copy parts of Retro's post

Jesus wept. Signed up for a new account with Paddy Power this morning, and deposited £25 to take advantage of their free bet deal, stuck a couple of European footy bets on and emailed them to ask for my free bet (as was requested ala Retro).

As I requested this I also asked to be self-excluded from their Casino, Games and other non-sport stuff as I don't want to use it after drunkely convincing myself I could beat Betfair blackjack a couple of months ago (I couldn't).

Now the bets lost, but I went on to see if anything tonight took my fancy, and it wouldn't let me log in. I loaded up the live chat thingy and was told that my account had been closed, my free bet would not be credited, and my balance would be refunded within three working days. This is due to their "Responsible Gambling" policy and because I had used the words "self-exclusion" in my email, they'd closed my account. The guy actually referred me to Gamecare in the chat He wouldn't listen to any of my reasoning, and that was that.

I've just received an e-mail now saying they're very sorry for the mix up, and would like to re-open the account, and give me a free £50 bet for the inconvenience caused. That's thus been splurged straight onto a Sevilla, Inter and Morelia trixie, and regardless of the outcome they can get to **** after this, usless ****s.
