| The Iron Horse | Football Manager 2010 Anyone got it? Got it on Friday, have been quite impressed so far. Started off with Norwich and got sacked but then got offered the job at Forest Green, and after a shaky first season where we just avoided relegation in the BSQ Premier, I managed to create a tactic which has worked wonders, and after promotion to the League Two the next season, I'm currently sitting top in my first year of League football.![]() |

Not bought FM10 yet, I fear if I got it now my Uni work would be given even less priority than it is now and I'd probably end up failing the first semester. As soon as my final assignment before Christmas is handed in I shall pop into town and sit and play it until Christmas Day probably, once I get going I can't put the bloody thing down. Tried the demo and loved it, created a very successful if slightly barmy 2-3-2-1-2, but as per usual I have my doubts as to whether it will translate into the full game. |

| Mmmmm Hayley Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Manchester | Started a game yesterday as my beloved Stockport County. Predicted a 23rd place finish, I told the board I could achieve a midtable finish without even looking at the squad. Having then looked at the squad, I immediately regretted this decision, the team is awful this year :nono:Only Carl baker and Micheal Raynes look even remotely useful, so major changes were needed. I was given a measly 30k to spend, despite having well over 500k in the bank and no debts (Despite still being in admin owing £6 million in real life ). I thus adjusted the budgets and ploughed it all into wages, with a total of £40,000 a week to spend.Transfers: http://i46.tinypic.com/2ptbbr8.jpg As you can see I've delved into the free agents market, strengthening two major areas in the defence and attack. Mettomo has been decent, Antwi a bit erratic. Topp hasn't really got going, but Vincent Péricard has been an absolute revelation. Plays up top on his own and is scoring for fun really. In terms of loans, Bruna and Murphy are here all season, along with Bridcutt from Chelsea, and Bignall from Reading. He was crap though and has been sent back. Hewson and Friend are here for 3 months each, and then I'll have to replace them as my other attacking mids and left back are poor. Still looking for a right midfielder (Not winger), and a central midfielder so any suggestions would be most welcome. Tactics: http://i46.tinypic.com/2cx91e9.jpg Having had a poke round the forum today it would appear I'm using a formation very similar to that of SD's Loscarbayones. Indeed I'm even employing Baker in the AML position as the Inside Forward, and he's bagged a few cutting in off the wing already. I am having problems defensively, as the CB's are reluctant to actually get tight to their men. I'm not looking for them to man mark, but rather get them closer zonally as soon as the ball gets 30 yards out, as they currently float around marking nothing in particular at time.[/spoiler] Results: http://i49.tinypic.com/dqgj0i.jpg Given our predicted finish and the state of the squad we've done well so far, certainly much better than I anticipated. Highlights are undoubtedly the two 3-0 wins to kick off the season, as well as the 4-3 thriller against Southampton. As previously mentioned I'm worried about our defensive stability, but that may well be down to the poor personnel rather than the tactics. We put up a good display against Blackburn, and I rested half the team against Morecambe, and a defeat on penalties isn't a travisty. We're currently 3rd, although we have a tough run up until Christmas, so I'll be happy to get to January in the play-offs. Looking to achieve a mid-table finish this season, pick up some experienced freebies and then push for better next season. Will keep you updated. |
