| The Iron Horse | Friday's Racing Sadly Veroon couldn’t get going quick enough today but wasn’t beaten far into fourth (about 1.5L in total) and with a truer gallop he looks ready to win again over this course and distance. Just the one selection for tomorrow, and it is yet another tricky days racing I’m afraid. The selection runs in the (6:10) Wolverhampton, a race in which looks to have some pace in it to suggest the gallop will be an honest and true one. My selection absolutely loves running at a strong pace, and was fancied to go close last time out but sadly he was given an absolute shocker. The horse in question is the Reg Hollinshead trained Restless Bay who has seen a return to his better form since being fitted with eye-shields. In his first run in eye-shields he landed a touch for the veteran Hollinshead, holding off Mambo Spirit (won next time out) to register a fourth career success. He was then tried over seven furlongs but the pace for that distance didn’t really suit him, and although he kept on in the closing stages I don’t think that is his trip, a strongly run six furlongs is about what this horse requires. His next effort came when he was well backed beforehand from a wide-draw, but dropped in off the back of a moderate early pace. He could never really get into contention as those in front of him kicked away off the home bend, and never looked like searching them out in the straight. His most recent run came over tomorrow’s C&D from a similar wide draw to what he encountered the time before, only Freddie Tylicki seemed intent on navigating the Wolverhampton polytrack via the scenic route, entering the home straight via the hotel only to tire after running a furlong or so further than the remainder of the field. He remains off the same mark of 77 as his last two runs, but is given a much better stalls position breaking from barrier 5 tomorrow, and if he can take a tow through the race early covered up, he should go very close under Adam Kirby who gets back on him after things went pear-shaped two starts ago. Restless Bay has form figures over six furlongs at Wolverhampton of (4142128196) that is 3 wins from 10, and 5 times he has hit the frame in ten starts. 1pt win Restless Bay @ 12-1 with Boylesports |
